2,600 miles later … a few pictures…

Spring Break is over and that could only mean one thing– spring break blog posts by everyone, especially the photojournalists.  So, if you can stand one more spring break blog post, read on…

Below is a map of our road trip. You can even interact with it!  Coooooooool. We drove a total of over 2,600 miles in 10 days.  To see it bigger just click on the link below the map:

Chelsea and I decided to do a road trip this break with no real plan in mind– just drive to the southeast.  The only plan we had was to go rafting on the Chattooga River in northern Georgia/South Carolina.  The river was made famous by the movie Deliverance and features the “Five Falls” consisting of five consecutive Class 5 rapids (the highest class being Class 6– unraftable).  Our guide kept reminding us of the “dire consequences” of messing up in these rapids.

From there, we had no plan.  So, we headed to Savannah, GA, hopped over to Hilton Head Island, drove to see the old city of Charleston, SC, drank some good beer in Asheville, NC and hiked in Great Smoky Mountains National Park after driving part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Maybe when I feel like it I will elaborate a little more.  For now, here are some pictures of what we saw along the way:

And, much to the detriment of my bank account, I came back with a few good beers that you cannot find here in the Missouri.  I will only be eating frozen food for the next month because I cannot fit any real food in my fridge:
