Kansas City Adventure
In all the years I have lived in Missouri, I have never visited Kansas City– only driven through it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had there.
In a day, I went to Arthur Bryants BBQ, the Power & Light district, The Plaza, Kansas City Star, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and Union Station.
While at Union Station, they let us hang around on the platform and take pictures as the trains arrived. It was great dramatic lighting as passengers got off the trains. I never thought I would have so much fun at a train station. I think I spent over 2 hours hanging around.
Here are some shots that I got from the day:
Passengers arriving on trains from St. Louis and Chicago converge on the station platform at Union Station in Kansas City.
Passengers board an Amtrak train bound for Los Angeles at Union Station in Kansas City.
A mural painted on the side of the Kansas City Star circulation building appears to interact with a parked car along Murray St. in downtown Kansas City.
A view of the Kansas City skyline seen from an overpass on Interstate 635.
The main lobby of Kansas City Union Station recently decorated for Christmas.

As I am heading home for Thanksgiving on Amtrak, the pictures are especially meaningful. The silhouettes of the passengers works very well here.
